Assigning IP address In MAC OS X

Set Static IP in OS X You will need to open System Preferences, once there open Network It would be a good idea to to edit the Locations so that you can easily change from DHCP to manual IP simply. You will need to go to Edit Locations… with in the Network Preference Pane Name it something that will let you remember what it is for. Once you have named the new location you will click on the connection you want to set manually. In this example we will use Ethernet. From the Configure IPv4 drop down we will choose Manually. Now we will add the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS and Search Domains. In this example we will use Google’s DNS which is 8.8.8.8 and your Search Domain will depend on your network.

Setting up a Network Printer in Mac OS X Select  System Preferences  from the apple menu. Click on the  Print & Fax  icon in the System Preferences window. In the Print & Fax window, click the plus sign icon. Click on the  IP  button in the pop-up window. From the  Protocol  drop-down menu, select  Internet Printing Protocol – IPP . Type in the printer’s IP address in the  Address  field. (If you don’t know your printer’s IP address, contact your system administrator for assistance.) The message Valid and complete address will appear if you typed in the address correctly. The address will also be filled in automatically in the  Name  field. Type a descriptive name for the printer in the  Name  and  Location  fields if you want. Even though, by default, the IP address is filled in, you can change this to any name you want (i.e., printer location, printer model). Select the op...
